Benthic/Aquatic Invertebrate Studies
Benthic and aquatic invertebrates are increasingly used as indicators in various biomonitoring programs. At GLEC, we have the staff, the equipment, and the resources necessary to offer complete services in benthic field sampling, sorting, and identification. Over the last six years, GLEC has processed well over 1200 benthic samples for a variety of clients including industrial firms, municipalities, state environmental agencies, the U.S. Department of Defense, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Our benthic staff is experienced, with our taxonomists having over 35 years of combined experience. GLEC is experienced in conducting planktonic community analyses. As part of a zebara mussel monitoring program for an industrial client, GLEC conducted visual inspections, artificial substrate and whole water sampling and analysis. In addition, we have conducted zooplankton/phytoplankton anayses on lakes and bays. For more information contact Don McNew. |
