Analysis of Mid-Appalachian Macroinvertebrate Samples
(EPA EMAP Project)

Benthic macroinvertebrates were sorted and identified from over 350 samples collected from wadeable streams in the Appalachian Region of the United States. Processing of samples followed a technical work plan written for the project. In general, subsampling was done only when samples were estimated to contain greater than 300 individuals, and all identifications were taken to the lowest possible taxonomic level using a list of keys provided by EPA. QA/QC of the sorting and identification was conducted on 10 percent of the samples.
