Ecological Risk Assessment at Pine Bluff Arsenal
(U.S. Army, Pine Bluff Arsenal)

Great Lakes Environmental Center researchers are currently performing an Ecological Risk Assessment for eight closure sites at the Pine Bluff Arsenal. The assessment involves both tier 1 and tier 2 analyses to help determine the potential for any significant adverse environmental effects from principal contaminants of concern at each closure site. The study involves spatial COC monitoring and analyses, terrestrial and aquatic toxicity assays, ecological assessments of receiving streams, and pathway determination of COC's. GLEC researchers have integrated relevant GIS data for the closure sites and surrounding areas to supplement the Arsenal's Long-Term Environmental Management Plan for land management and risk minimization.
