Under contract with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), GLEC is currently performing and evaluation of EPA's "Guidelines for Deriving Numerical Aquatic Life Criteria for the Protection of Aquatic Organisms and Their Uses" in cooperation with HECD and EPA's Office of Research and Development (ORD). Through this program, GLEC is coordinating an effort by GLEC and EPA scientist and EPRI to identify the areas of concern in the existing "Guidelines", review the progress that EPA has made in addressing those areas of concern, and to develop a cooperative strategy for performing the necessary work to develop a revised set of "Guideline". GLEC organized an information exchange meeting which took place at ORDs Duluth laboratory may 12/13, 1998 to review the available information, and discuss approaches for EPA, EPRI and other organizations to collaborate on the development of an updated "Guidelines" document. GLEC's role in this program has been to coordinate the cooperative interactions between EPA and EPRI, and to provide important expertise in the "Guidelines" revision process.
