Environmental Assessment of Low Head Hydropower Dams
(Industrial Client)

GLEC researchers conducted fishery, habitat assessment, water quality and sediment quality studies for the completion of Exhibit E portions of FERC license applications. Fish entrainment and fish resources studies were undertaken to evaluate the number and mortality of fish entrained through operating hydro turbines. Fish resource data were summarized to compare fish abundance within impoundments and in unrestricted river channels, and to evaluate the occurrence and distribution of threatened, rare or endangered species. Aquatic habitats were assessed to determine changes in available aquatic habitat and river morphology due to the operation of the dams. Sediment and water quality data were collected from the impoundments and the river to assess potential changes in water and sediment chemistry.
