The EPA's Offices of Water and Research Development are developing a sediment quality Criteria for the protection of benthic organisms against PAH mixtures. Aquatic life toxicity data are needed on a variety of chemicals and organisms to support this effort. GLEC is currently conducting literatures searches of aquatic toxicity test information for 70 chemicals using the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) database. GLEC staff, through written technical direction provided by the EPA, is conducting the search on requested chemicals using the EPA literature search strategy for obtaining aquatic toxicity test information. GLEC also identified and suggested those references that will be appropriate according to EPA's latest guidance for deriving water quality criteria.
