Data Sourcing/Conversion

GLEC constantly canvasses and reviews the ever-evolving data offerings from industry sources. As an independent consultancy, we will search for and recommend the most cost efficient data source rather than push a specific product line. Depending on client needs, one project might be completed by processing free Federal data, where another might best be served by acquiring licensed data. As a professional GIS shop, we can manage and process data across platforms into cohesive GIS formats and uniform datums. Following are key areas of data sourcing and conversion. Use the contact form or contact us directly to describe your project data needs and receive a free consultative response.

» Industry Data
Acquire accurate and meaningful data for your business environment. We recommend and source the best data for telecommunications, banking, insurance, healthcare, or industrial marketers, or cluster demographics.

» Government Data
An ever-expanding wealth of GIS data is available at the Federal, State, and County levels. Let GLEC’s GIS department identify, source, and process government data to your
specifications.

» Census Data
Combine Census 2000 data and geographies into custom project files. Enjoy less expensive alternatives to licensed data offerings.

» GPS to GIS Conversion
Convert GPS data to GIS map files. Depict GPS referenced features as lines, points, symbols or regions. Create custom maps as final products.

» Digitizing
Digitize paper maps or imagery into preferred GIS vector formats. Finished products must pass a rigorous quality assurance check and are guaranteed.

» Format Conversion
Convert original data to preferred formats and datums. Through our translator programs, we can process virtually all vector formats and return GIS files in industry standards such as ESRI, MapInfo, and AutoCad.

» Raster to Vector Conversion
Convert raster data (pictures) to vector files (GIS). We employ manual or automatic vectorization programs to efficiently convert and return clean vector files.
