| GLEC specializes
in GIS services to government planning and regulatory entities
as well as professionals in private or NGO/non-profit organizations.
Our specialties include digitizing problematic parcel maps, converting databases
into dynamic GIS maps, and analyzing demographic/spatial trends.
Following are some project examples of GLEC’s applied
GIS solutions for Government and Planning:
Land
Use Analysis
The available land use data for this Michigan County was over
20 years old. Using more recent digital orthophotos (1996),
this updated five level land use map was produced through
aerial interpretation, digitizing, and data linking. |

Parcel
Conversion
This project screen shot shows results of a digital conversion
from low quality source maps. After the parcels were digitized
and georeferenced, the county client’s equalization
data was linked to the parcels. Our special techniques in
“rubber sheeting” and geocoding provide cost savings
over other methods. |

Redistricting
GLEC's GIS specialists modeled Census SF1 data within MapInfo
Professional’s automatic redistricting function to redistrict
ten Michigan Counties. The speed, ease, and low cost of our
methods were preferred even when client Counties had internal
GIS capabilities.
