Telecommunications/Utilities

Large, medium, and small firms involved in the telecommunications and utility industries have benefited from GLEC’s cost efficient industry proven solutions. GLEC’s GIS professionals have successfully served fiber providers, fixed wireless data providers, and electrical utilities through GIS conversions, terrain analysis, and cartographic products.

Wireless Site Acquisition
Site acquisition is a critical step in wireless network expansions. In this screenshot of a PCS Licensee project, overlaying search rings along with tower and tall structure databases over digital zoning maps expedited build-out and saved thousands in labor costs.
Preliminary RF Analysis
Along with GIS support for property and facility assessments, wireless providers can assess site feasibility through viewshed and line-of-sight analysis. The map illustrates a complex viewshed analysis for a fixed wireless data provider’s candidate site. These fast and affordable map reports streamline decision-making and preserve valuable RF engineering time for only the best sites.

GIS Conversion
Utilities and telecommunications firms Gain huge advantages by converting paper Maps and non-earth referenced digital drawings into a GIS system. GLEC has the know-how to assist with or conduct conversions from multiple formats. This fiber provider’s networks in three metro markets were converted from paper maps and flat data files to a fully operable GIS system

Stormwater System Engineering
Municipal stormwater systems will receive increasing attention from regulatory bodies in the coming years as critical environmental influences. As part of a State sponsored environmental assessment effort, GLEC digitized portions of this municipal stormwater system and linked flow and water quality data to select outfalls.
