Maggie is experienced in freshwater research design and operates the Molecular Ecology Laboratory at GLEC. She has conducted wastewater monitoring for epidemiological targets as well as molecular source tracking for surface water contamination. She has also conducted all aspects of whole effluent and sediment toxicity testing at GLEC’s Traverse City Toxicology Laboratory since joining GLEC in 2015. Maggie has played a key role in field studies including as a field crew member for EPA's NARS 2018-2019 National Rivers and Streams Assessment and 2017 National Lakes Assessment, leveraging her skills working in remote backcountry environments. Maggie has a MSc in Biology, Aquatic Focus from the Annis Water Resources Institute at Grand Valley State University and a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Michigan.
