GLEC Awarded National Aquatic Resource Surveys Contract

June 6, 2016

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Water has continued its long-standing relationship with GLEC as a key contractor supporting the National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS) by awarding GLEC with a five year competitive task order contract valued at $31.8 million. The NARS surveys are designed to assess and monitor the condition of the nation’s river, lake, wetland, and coastal resources through a rotating schedule of field surveys followed by laboratory analyses and reporting phases. Each survey is designed to generate statistically valid estimates of the ecological health of water bodies through sampling a randomly selected representative assemblage of aquatic community, water quality, human health and associated ecological data. GLEC has supported the NARS program since it began with the 2007 National Lakes Assessment.
