GLEC Awarded Five Year USEPA National Aquatic Resource Surveys (NARS) Contract

October 4, 2021 - GLEC will continue to support the USEPA’s NARS program through a new five-year task order contract beginning in October 2021.  GLEC has provided key contractor support to the NARS program since its inception in 2007.  The NARS program provides an ongoing assessment of the ecological health and condition of coastal waters, lakes, wetlands, and rivers and streams in all conterminous U.S. ecoregions through a rotating schedule of field surveys, research, and reporting.  GLEC and its subcontractors, including EnviroScience Inc., support all aspects of NARS, including field crew deployment and training; methods development; laboratory-based taxonomic and water quality research; logistics, data analysis, reporting, and communications.  The total value of the 2021 to 2026 NARS contract is $35 million and is administered by the Office of Water’s Assessment and Watershed Protection Division in the Office of Science and Technology.
